Hey Mom,

Cool news about Christmas!!  Me and my companion just got invited by Sister Poznanski to spend Christmas with the Caussé family as well as the Poznanski's along with lots of other super awesome people..... As in Elder Caussé the general authority!  The Babin Family will be there as well (the one from the video I sent you) as they are related to the Caussés!

Ok, I gotta get back to work but I knew you would like to hear about that, so yeah!

I love you so much!

Thought maybe you would like to see this.  We have been teaching a family lately named the "Lemaire" Family.  I sent you the link because we have been teaching them in the "Babins" Home.  They are as awesome as they seem and maybe even a little more.

Love you so much.

P.S. The two little girls are super cute.  Sometimes when we go over, I hide under the stairs and the call me the Monster under the stairs!  Ha ha!!

Hey!

I just wanted to say hello!  I am in the middle of wrapping up a pretty long day at the office.

Thanks so much for your email the other day.  I really loved it.  Glad to hear that you had a nice Thanksgiving.  The picture you got was of me and Elder Olsen the Intendant ( he takes care of the Cellphones and Mission Cars.)

Anyways its almost 9:30 here and I havent eaten ALL day and I have been working LIKE CRAZY.  So I am gonna go home and eat and fall into bed.

Its kinda fun to be able to email you whenever I want.  Mom, I love you a ton! Sorry I have been so horrible with emails lately.  After this week I should be less busy.... I hope.  I am still learning how to manage all of these things to do by myself without Elder Draleau.

Anyways Goodnight Mom!

Hey Mom,

So I got a letter in the mail today telling me that my package arrived in Paris but there is some type of a problem with Customs here.  I have to write them a letter telling them exactly what is in the package and how much everything costs.  Is it possible to try and send me a list of the things that were in the package so I can go pick it up!?

Anyways, I also wanted to ask you what do you think I should get for Grae?  Do you have any ideas of something I could order her Online?

I love you mom.  I am having a wonderful week here in the Office.  Oh By they way.
President has told us not to do emails on Saturdays anymore.  He just wants us to do them during the week.  So I was wondering if you could send me emails on Mondays from now on.  Just like we used to do.  And then that way Ill be able to reply durring the week.  Does that work for you?

Oh and can you let me know what is happening with Grae?  Is she coming to stay with you for Christmas or what?

Anyways Mom, I love you a ton. I hope you are having a wonderful day!

I will talk to you later :)

November 15. 2011

Hey mom,

Sorry it has been so long since I have written you a decent letter.  Things here in the office get crazier every day.  I love it.  I am learning a lot.  I also love being around so many great missionaries all the time.  I am learning how to do my job.  I feel like I am just about able to do it all by myself which is a good thing seeing as Elder Draleau will leave next Wednesday!

Not a whole lot is new.  Things are going really well.  Things are so busy here.  I have been having trouble remembering to take pictures and write in my journal.  Its so discouraging.  I am so tired by the end of the day that I feel no motivation whatsover to write in my journal.  I hate it.  These past 6 weeks have been the worst ever for writing in my journal since I have been on my mission.  Whats even worse is that they have been most likely my favorite 6 weeks of my mission so far.  But I will get better.  Its just taking some time to get adjusted to this new crazy schedule!  I feel like I always have soo much to do!

The weather here seems more and more like winter every day as well.  Fall here was gorgeous.

I had a interview with President Today. It went pretty well but I still miss President Staheli a ton! He was the best.  We didnt talk about anything big or super important.

It sounds like Tyler is doing well.  You dont have to worry about anything. I know you love me and Grae.  I am glad you are able to take care of Tyler, even if he doesn't seem super grateful for it right now I know he will never forget it. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to send him a short email?  I would love to hear about his swim team and see how he is doing. Obviously I couldnt really write him an essay but maybe just a little note to say Hello.

Wait! You might be going to Uraguay?  And Florida?  Thats cool.  How long would you be gone? That sounds super exciting!

I havent been eating to healthy lately either.  There is one downside to having so many people in the same apartment, this is that as soon as one person catches a cold or something, pretty much every body else is bound to catch the same thing sooner or later.  So lately I have been trying to fight off a small little cold that has been going around.  This means I havent gone running, and when I dont go running in the mornings I usually lack the self discipline/motivation the rest of the day when it comes to eating healthy.

I have yet to recieve your package but its only Tuesday! I am super super excited!!

I keep on forgetting to upload more pictures.  One of these days I will get around to it.  I was taking pictures in the highest definition possible on my camera so they take FOREVER to upload.  But I will get around to it sooner or later.

And Yes, I will film it when I open up the package.  I am super excited!  I have no idea what I want for Christmas!  I will think about it this week and try and send you a few ideas on Saturday.  Anyways I should probably get going. But I love you a ton! I hope you had a great weekend and I am excited to hear from you again on Saturday!

I love you MOM!

Hey Mom,

Sorry I never sent you an email! Our p-day was kinda crazy and President came into the office with his family when I was just about to begin writing to you and so I got distracted.  Then we ended up having lunch with all the bureau elders and President/Sister Poznanski.  I will write you an email on saturday.  But things are going well here.  Still loving the office.  Okay gotta get back to work!  Love ya!

Hey Mom!

Thanks for the pictures!  And thanks for your email!  It was great to hear from you.  Sadly, I took today to write a quick update to send to friends and family!   So I am not gonna write much today. However I will attach the update that I personalized and mailed to people.

But Just wanted to let you know that I am alive and happy and all is going well here. I love you a ton!

Hey!

So these past few week/ months have been crazy.  I was originally serving in a place called St. Brieuc, which is a beautiful coastal town near Brest and located on the most far western part of France.  I loved it so much there.

The people were so nice.  The members of the church were super nice to the missionaries there too.  They would invite us over all the time to eat and to hang out with their families.  I am excited to go back and visit there after my mission.

About 3 weeks ago I phone call from my mission President asking me to come to Versailles to be the new mission “Comptable” which is French for accountant.  This means I work at the Mission “Bureau” or office along with several other missionaries and the mission President along with his family and between us all we make sure that the mission runs properly, that the apartments are in good shape, that nobody gets deported, and that missionaries don’t starve to death along with many other things.  It’s really interesting to see what makes this mission “tick” in a sense.  I also really really find my new job interesting.

Math was never my strongest subject but I seem to be witnessing a miracle because somehow this mission is not bankrupt yet and I have been here for over 3 weeks now! Ha ha!!

My companions right now are Elder Gardner (this Mission Secretary) who is from Utah, and Elder Draleau who was the Comptable but is helping me learn how to do everything.  He is by far my favorite companion that I have served with so far here in France.  And whats more is that he is from Olympia Washington and he even went to WSU before his mission!  I am kinda bummed that he will be leaving in 3 weeks or so!

Anyways things are going really well here and I am having a blast.  Its kinda weird to think that I have been on my mission for over a year now.  Next year at this time I will be coming home!  It seems like just yesterday that I left!

Anyways I hope you are doing alright. Send me an email or a letter if you get a chance, okay?

By the way my new home address is:
Elder Morgan
23, rue du Onze Novembre

Alright I gotta take off but I hope I hear from you soon !

October 22, 2011

Hey Mom!

So, there is a little perk to working in the office. The president says I can use my lunch hours during the week to get a head start on my emails to you each week.

I have had a great week here in the office.  I am still really loving it here.  I am serving around some awesome missionaries.  One of my favorites is Elder Bühlmann he is from Switzerland and he is our greffier right now! ( I am going to try and attach a file that explains what each person does in the office.  I am feeling a little to lazy to type all that out.)

Anyways, let me start with Saturday.  After sending your email I went shopping with Elder Draleau.  I really like the system we have worked out here for eating.  We all buy food together and split the cost.  We spend about 60 euros each week, that divided by 5 makes food really cheap.  However we eat REALLY good.  Since I have been here, we have had pizza, quiche, several different types of pizza, lots of simple salads and a few other interesting meals.   The
food we all buy together usually is used for dinner each night and lunch on Sunday.  Other than that, lunch every day at the office is every man for himself.  We have a kitchen here at the office and if we don’t have any food we make a quick run to a grocery store and get whatever we want.  I have yet to do so but it would also be very easy to go out to eat.

Oh! I totally forgot to tell you.  Last Wednesday when I came to Versailles, President called me the night before and asked me to drive the car from St. Brieuc to the mission home.  I think I already told you that, but then as I was driving to the mission home I was asked to drive to Paris to pick up my new companions.  So I dropped Elder Jomie off at the Gare du Nord (also the place where I had my passport and money stolen in 2008) and then I picked up my new companions and hung out at the Church at St. Marie not too far away.   I tell you all this
because I got to drive all across Paris.  It was crazy and actually kind of scary.  There were scooters and motor bikes everywhere!  I also drove around the huge round about at Arc de Triomphe.  I was thinking all about you that day and how much I know you want to come visit Paris!!

Anyways, back to my week, Sunday was good.  The ward here is pretty huge and there are a ton of missionaries.  Its kind of a little depressing because between the size of the ward and the speed at which missionaries change here makes it hard to have a sincere relationships with the members.  I bet that would be really tough in the United States.  The wards are so big there, it would be so tough to really get to know everybody in 6 weeks.  The church here doesn’t even have the new missionaries introduce themselves since there are so many of us and we change so often.  After Church on Sunday we came home and had a Pizza.  It was really good and actually reminded me A LOT of your homemade pizza!  After that we did some planning and then went to two different RDV’s both of which went well .   The work here in the office is going wel, but we need to find more people to teach. We have had some pretty good contacts lately and I am sure there will be many more to come.  Aside from that we didn't do a whole lot on Sunday.

Monday was also good.   It was kind of exciting to come back to the office for a new week.  I am really enjoying the work here at the bureau.  A typical day as a missionary in the office goes like this;  We wake up at 6:30 eat, exercise, shower/get ready and start personal studies around 8  and do that until companionship studies around 8:35-40ish.  We leave our apartment around 9 and walk 5 minutes to the office where we start off our day by checking our office email, and listening to phone messages.   After that we start working on our projects that we each have.   We work till whenever we are hungry and feel like taking a break for lunch (typically around 12) but sometimes we are so busy that we don’t end up eating until 1 or 2.  When Lunch finally does role around, we go to the kitchen to make something or we see if anybody else wants to go to the grocery store and buy stuff.  It seems like just about every day there are people who need to make a run to the grocery store and its really close so that is nice.  After lunch we go right back to work and finish around 5 (usually).  Sometimes we have to stay late to help President with something and sometimes we leave a few minutes early to go to a RDV or something like that.
After 5 its missionary work.  We don’t have a ton of ami’s here but I’m sure we will find some good people to teach here soon.  Around 8:30 or 9 we all meet back up at the apartment to plan, write in our journals, make dinner, eat and then get into bed.

Our apartment here is pretty small but I will try and upload some pictures sometime this next week.  I am trying to upload some pictures from off of my hard drive but it is taking A LONG TIME.  Oh another thing about Monday is we have a staff meeting.  This is where everybody in the office (President, The Assistants, and all the other Office Elders get together and talk about what they need from everybody else in order to solve problems or to finish their projects for the week.  Its pretty cool I like it.  So far I really like everybody here in the office.  We are all getting along really well.

Another cool thing is that President updates us on the Temple here pretty   much  as soon as he hears about it.  So if the project gets accepted we will be some of the first people in the World to know about it which is pretty awesome.

Okay Tuesday wasn’t anything special.  We had district meeting which was cool.  Elder Draleau is our District Leader and we mostly just talked about our goals for this transfer.  Wednesday President asked us to go pick up a sister who was going home early due to health problems so me and Elder Draleau went and did that while Elder Gardner stayed in the office and worked.  It’s a little weird being in the office because it is so different from being a normal missionary in the field.

Thursday was my 1 year mark!  It was pretty  weird.  Time sure does go by fast here on the mission.  After 5 we went to “consecration hill” which isn’t to far from here.  When President Staheli was the mission president here he had a tradition to take all the newly arrived  missionaries to this place overlooking Paris not to far away from the mission home to have a few minutes of quiet time to reflect on the 2 years to come and to write some goals/impressions down in our Journal.  The Office Elders here sometimes hit their year marks while they are serving here and its kind of a tradition to go back and “re-consecrate” ourselves.  So we went.  It was a really pretty view and Elder Draleau and sneaked around and printed of a “Happy Year Mark” card and gotten everybody in the office to sign it including President and his two daughters which was super nice.  Elder Draleau is a super awesome guy. Maybe my favorite companion so far.  He bought me a “year Mark Patisserie”  also which was a berry crumble.  It was amazing.  After that we contacted around the area until it was time to come home and call it a night.

Yesterday was good too.  We drove out to a place called Plaisir not too far from here.  You should look it up on Google Maps.  We went out there for a RDV but the lady wasn’t there so we headed to another RDV with our Ami Jean. He is a really cool guy and a great ami, the only problem is he is leaving to go to Africa for 3 months so we wont be able to teach him for a while here.  But we are trying to get into contact with the mission over there to pass them  his contact
information.

After our  last RDV with him it was time to come home.  I do quite  a bit of driving here.  I am the only one in our Companionship who can legally drive here.  The drivers license from the United States are really weird here.  We can only drive for one year starting with the day we arrive in France.  Its complicated how it all works and to be honest I am not really even sure.

I am still really loving it here at the Office. Oh!! I got a nice little Package from Aunt Annette.  She sent me a Tie and a Happy Year Mark Tie.  I thought that was really nice.  I feel like I have so many letters to write!  Oh goodness! Ha ha!!

I guess I should probably get going here soon.

I am super excited for your packages.  Thanks so much for taking such good care of me.  And Thanks in advance for the Suit.  That will help out a lot here!

Alright mom! I love you! I gotta go! But I hope you have a wonderful week and I will be praying for you so you can get that job!

Love you!

October 15, 2011

Hey Mom!

So this is my first week in the Bureau! It is soooo coool!!  I love it here.  My trainer Elder Draleau is from  Washington too!  He even went to WSU before the mission.  He is a totally awesome guy.  There are
currently 6 missionaries in our Appartment right now!!  Its totally nuts, but by far the most fun I have had on my mission yet.

Each morning at nine or so we all leave the appartment together and walk (about 5 mins) to the mission home/office where we go to work.  I see President and his family ALL the time along with the Assistants and the Flying Assistants as well.  I love EVERYBODY in the office.  They are all SOOO nice and welcoming and its just been a super awesome experience.

President told me that I will almost for sure be here for 5 Transfers which means until May! Elder Draleau told me that the time in the mission office goes by twice as fast as normal..... I kinda hope that is not true.

I am learning how to do my job fast.  There is so much to do and a whole lot of new french vocabulary to learn!  It's definitely a different kind of missionary work.  But I kinda have to tell myself that because of what I do here in the Bureau (even if I am sitting down almost all day) is helping missionaries everywhere in our mission do their job more efficiently.

Another cool thing is our apartment. I can see the Effiel Tower from my desk. I also have a pretty beautiful view of Paris and the sunrise in the morning as we are up on the sixth story.  It is SOOO much fun living with a whole bunch of Missionaries in the same apartment.  We are actually in the process of searching for a new apartment for all of us since the apartment is not big enough for 4 missionaries let alone 6 but we are making do right now.

Anyways, I am gonna get going here pretty soon. But I love you.  I am really having a blast here.  By far the most fun I have had on my mission so far.  I feel like every day is just a big party.  Its great.  Anyways mom I love you!  I hope everything is going well back there.  I hope your trip to Washington and Oregon went well.

I am gonna try and print of your email later this week.  So please send one anyways even if you don't send one until Sunday night.

Just so you know, my p-day will be on Saturday's now that I am here in the Bureau.  I am not sure exactly why it is like that but I imagine that it has a lot to do with the fact the business and banks are open weekdays and to be more efficient in our work its better to have our p-day on saturday as we are on the telephone and work a lot with many businesses and bank here in France, Luxembourg, and Belgium.

Anyways Mom, once more I love you a ton!  I hope you had a wonderful week and that this week coming up will be even better than the last.

Talk to you soon!

Love,
Elder Morgan

Hey Mom!!

I dont have a ton of time but I just wanted to let you know that I still have the same pant size!  Can you just get me a machine washable pair of slacks that goes with a nice suit jacket?  I really like the machine washable slacks.

Anyways I love you! thanks and if you have any other questions just let me know! Good luck with your move!

October 8, 2011

Hey mom!!

I got a phone call from the president last night! I am going to be the new financial secretary for the mission!  That means I will be at the mission home address in Versailles!  I am super super excited as I will be staying in the same apartment as 5 other missionaries and will be there for probably at least 5 transfers!  I am super super excited!  I will also get to see Elder Butel more often! Anyways I gotta go.  I will send you the transfer email later today!

Love you a ton!

Hey momma!!

Got your email! Thanks so much!  It was an amazing email!

Sadly, this week has been crazy!  We have been helping our friend Nancy move for a couple days now! Going to go finish the Job right now! So I dont have a ton of time! But I am printing off your email!

I actually spent some time looking for Stan Ellison on Facebook today!  I have recieved two letters recently from Janessa Johnson and Stan Ellison, both were processed by the post office in Kirkland and both letters were opened and the contents stolen in the post office.  The post office then mailed me a letter in an envelope saying "sorry".  Its a little frustrating that people are stealing my mail.  All I am recieving is empty envelopes.  Anyways Im not sure what you can do about it but I am telling you all this because I wrote Stan a "thank you letter" when
I was in Villeneuve d'Ascq for giving me money for my mission and he obviously wrote me a letter back but well I dont know what it said because somebody stole it.

Anyways sorry this is a horrible email! But I love you!  I really loved your email! Thanks mom! Love you! I promise to write a huge email next week.

P.s. Interviews with new mission President Tomorrow and General Conference this weekend!  SOOO STOKED!

Love you mom!

I'm working on geting my lds scriptures app all set up.  It's taking a little bit of time.  So, I'm sorry, but I am not gonna really write a whole lot.  Sorry about that!  But I love you.  Gonna print off a your email and read it at home!

P.s I gave a talk yesterday in church too!  It was "soyez prets" which is pretty much exactly the same topic as you spoke on!  Just in a more general sense!  I thought that was cool!

Anyways I love you soo much and will send you a better email next
week! Love you!
